The Cardinals erupted for 20 runs on 21 hits en route to a sweep of the Auggies in the teams’ MIAC doubleheader a year ago. SMU won the opener 11-3 in six innings, then completed the sweep with a 9-1, five-inning triumph in the nightcap. … The Cardinals had their MIAC winning streak snapped at six as SMU dropped both games of its conference series against two-time defending national champion St. Thomas last Saturday. The Tommies scored a pair of unearned runs in winning Game 1 3-1, then completed the sweep with a 9-4 victory. … The Auggies extended their winning streak to three, and evened their MIAC record at 5-5, with a 3-1, 8-5 conference sweep of Macalester on Saturday.
