Jenni Gutterman (Shoreview, Minn.) picked up three of the Cardinals nine hits vs. St. Thomas, going 2-for-3 in Game 1 and 1-for-3 in Game 2.
Guttermans two hits in Game 1 mark the fifth time in SMUs 16 games that the junior has had at least two hits.
Gutterman, who leads the team with 19 hits, has hit safely in 14 of the Cardinals 16 games and has reached base in 15 of the 16 games.
Amy Lang (Oshkosh, Wis.) accounted for both of SMUs runs in the second game vs. UST as she launched her second home run of the season.
Langs HR was SMUs ninth of the season, one more than the Cardinals hit all of last season.
Melissa Mondo (Vadnais Heights, Minn.) (.462) and Nikki Jung (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) (.417) lead the team in batting average, while Amy Edges (Montfort, Wis.) 11 RBis are a team high.
PItcher Jenny Schipp (North St. Paul, Minn.) has appeared in 10 of SMUs 16 games, striking out 56 in 48 1/3 innings.
SMUs loss to St. Thomas Wednesday was its seventh and eighth straight vs. the Tommies, dating back to a 1-0 win in the 2001 NCAA Division III Midwest Regional.
The Cardinals Game 1 loss snapped a two-game winning streak and was SMUs first conference loss of the season.
Krista Conway (Mendota Heights, Minn.) had her five-game hitting streak snapped with an 0-for-2 showing in Game 1 vs. St. Thomas, while Gutterman and Lang both extended their hit streaks to four games.

After dropping four straight to open the season, UW-River Falls has gone 7-7 over its last 11 games.
The Falcons and Cardinals have faced one common opponent this season St. Scholastica. UW-RF loss to the Saints 6-0 and 8-0 in a season-opening doubleheader, while SMU posted an 8-2 win during its spring trip to California.
Amanda Wojnowiak is the Falcons offensive leader, hitting .414 with team-highs in hits (24), doubles (5), triples (1), RBIs (9), total bases (31) and slugging percentage (.534).
Brittany Rattbun (1.52, 1-3, 27.2 IP, 7 BB, 25 Ks), Ashley Bertrand (2.70, 3-4, 46.2 IP, 17 BB, 38 Ks) and Leah Vandergloeg (3.22, 3-4, 45.2 IP, 21 BB, 33 Ks) have shared the pitching duties, combining for a 2.62 ERA and 96 strikeouts.
The Falcons have yet to hit their first home run of the season.
All seven of UW-RFs wins have come away from home.
