From playing youth baseball at age nine and being forced to wear a cup, I would have never guessed I would make it all the way to play SMU fastpitch softball. Thankfully, I have no regrets, only the best memories, which I will treasure forever. I could never make friendships like I have on this team and I hope to make them last until the day I die. I have never laughed, cried, clapped, screamed or ran as much as I have with this team in the last three years. I am so sad to be leaving a year early, but have never been so excited to transmit to the crazy fan on the other side of that chalk line. So let’s end my last year in a bang (wink wink)!!

First, I would like to thank my parents. Mom and Dad, thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of your support throughout my entire career. From driving me to youth baseball games to making the three-hour trip to Winona, you have always been there for me. Mom, you may not be able to tell me left field from right, but you have taught me to never let anything get in the way of my dreams. Nobody can point me in the right direction better than you. Dad, thank you for your unconditional support throughout the years (you are definitely the one I get my emotional side from). You were always there to play catch with me when both of the boys were too jealous to because I could throw harder than they could. I couldn’t ask for better parents who understand and care for me as much as you two do. THANK YOU!

Coaches, thank you so much for furthering my knowledge and love for the game. Coach Fennern, thank you for showing me that “Focus Intensity Discipline” is truly what makes a great team play excellent. Miller, thank you for showing me everything I needed to know about catching and for lightening everything up a bit (OK, a lot).

Seniors: Thank you for being awesome role models for me, both on and off the field. KREGAN: for your oddly connected humor, which nobody but you understand, yet you two are sometimes the only ones who understand mine. Oh, and don’t forget: If you keep yelling, someone is bound to point you in the right direction. ;) Juniors: The anchors of my life and best friends in the world! Nobody could keep me in line like Schipp does in so many ways. I would be a nervous wreck without your blunt advice. Oh yeah, and don’t forget about those dang SLUGS! Gutt: thank you for showing me your amazing strength that has made it through the worst of times (and for pushing me into the car). Dusty, I could never trust anyone else to run from second to third and as long as you never forget your cleats, you will always be OK. To the remainder of the team, keep molding into the player you have always wished to be. Work hard, play hard, and never give up! Be BULLDOGS, because that’s all we know to be. And most important of all, have fun because that is the best way to enjoy life and your time at SMU! To former players, thank you for setting the bar and showing us how to play with excellence. Hanni, thank you for taking me under your wing as a freshman and teaching me everything you knew.
B, I couldn’t pick a better Wisconsinite to argue about bubblers and duck duck goose with against those crazy Minnesotans who think they know it all. EW Forever!!

To any other fans who have been there in support of Saint Mary’s fastpitch softball — thanks!! Your support is greatly appreciated.

Finally, thank you to Jerrie, Clint and the rest of the campus safety staff for being so flexible and understanding during the softball season. Thank you to all my professors for also being flexible about leaving classes early and understanding that softball was never more important than your classes.

Final note to the entire team and coaches: I will be back to run the chainsaw, I’m not quite ready to let Rodgers take over my job. I saw a little taste of it this year and it was not pretty (probably a good thing there wasn’t any small children in the area).

GOOD LUCK IN THE FUTURE RED! I WILL ALWAYS BE A BULLDOG, JUST IN ANOTHER FORM (YOU KNOW!).
