About four years ago, I stepped foot onto this campus for the first time not knowing what was in my future. Whether it is the extraordinary softball tradition, Coach’s talk on the leather couches, the bathrooms in Skemp, or my night out on the town with Gnerks that brought me to SMU, I don’t know, but I do know it was the best choice I’ve ever made. The friends and memories I have developed have had a huge impact on my life and will stay in my heart forever.

First, I’d like to thank my two biggest fans, my parents. Mom, thanks for all your support in everything and sorry for scaring you everytime I got hurt, which we all know was often. Thanks for always being proud of me whether I went 3-for-3 or 0-for-4. Thanks for your strong will and huge heart to give me the best possible opportunity growing up. Al, if it weren’t for you, I probably wouldn’t be playing softball. Thanks for hours of BP and the confidence booster of hitting off of you. Thanks for all your support and you’re the best dad I could ever have. Mom and Al, I love you! Also, thanks to Brian and Patti for making it to as many games as possible. Thanks for going all the way to St. Louis and back to Winona in 24 hours to watch us play. Patti, sorry you never got to see the arch!

To all of my coaches, thank you for EVERYTHING! Coach, I really don’t know how to thank you enough or tell you how much I’ve appreciated the opportunity to play for you. You’ve not only taught me about every aspect of ball, but about life. This year has definitely had its tough times and I never would have made it through it without your help. Miller and Niki … you’ve been awesome coaches, teammates, and most importantly friends. Miller, I look up to you and appreciate all of the listening you’ve done over the past four years. USED & ABUSED! Nik, you always know how to push my buttons enough to make me get a hit. WIGGLE 1!

Fellow seniors, Kregan, Amanda, and Lang, we’ve been through it all together and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it! Daigs, your work ethic and dedication has made this team better in so many ways. Thanks for being a great friend. Lang, enjoy Evanston next year and hopefully some new frosh come in to carry on the Wisconsin tradition. Kregan, you’re one in the same. I love you guys and I’m so lucky to be able to play with you both. Let’s make the most of what we have left and go out with a bang. Thanks for being great friends and KEG and “the power of 3” will never die. Oh, and if you’re lucky, maybe you’ll see some JT action before the year is over.

Roommates, Schipp and Gutt, I’m so glad we’ve become such close friends. Schipp, thanks for your support throughout the year and for your great advice. I will cherish our friendship forever and I thank you for all you’ve done for me. We make one heck of a battery and I really would like to see you frame and block! Just so you know, I can run from 1st to second! Gutt, what can I say, we’ve been through hell and back together and we both came out of it closer and stronger. We’ve also put a patent on the pick to 3rd, carry on the tradition next year. I know you won’t let me down.

Underclassmen, thanks for your commitment to the game and definitely your sense of humors. You are a unique group of individuals who will keep the SMU tradition going. Tara, don’t worry, I didn’t forget, you can have my brain, but I need it for pharmacy school next year. Thee #3, #1, & #22, thanks for being my feet as always! Wally, I’m officially handing down the “smart one” torch to you, don’t let me down. Annie, thanks for doing everything that you do. Past teammates, thanks for teaching me what it really means to be a member of this team and I thank you for developing this program and giving me the opportunity to play for it.

Trainers, Kevin and Ambjor, thanks for putting up with me and my stupid injuries. I’ve officially broken a finger all four years, isn’t that some sort of record?! Thanks, Donny, for all your support. Thanks to all fans, parents, and professors for the support.

Last, but not least, Kami, my best friend and roommie. Thank you for all your support and listening to me whine about ball, injuries, school, you name it. I take you telling me to suck it up seriously and I appreciate it. I could never thank you enough for everything, and I will miss you a ton next year. I cherish your friendship more than anything.

In closing, my softball career may be coming closer to an end, but it sure in the heck isn’t over yet. RED, let’s leave our mark in the history book and play our game. Leave a legacy … thanks SMU for all the memories!
