Cardinals' winless streak hits 5 with 2-0 setback

ROCKFORD, Ill. — Rockford scored single goals in both halves as the Saint Mary's University men's soccer team saw its winless streak reach five games with a 2-0 nonconference loss Wednesday afternoon.

Michael Roche put the Regents up 1-0 at the 22:00 mark, while teammate J.J. Tews completed the scoring at the 74:00-minute mark, beating SMU goalie Joseph Ferraro (Carol Stream, Ill.) from 25 yards out. Ferraro finished with nine saves.

The Cardinals (7-8-1 overall), who fall to 0-4-1 in their last four games, close out their season with two home games, beginning Saturday against Hamline.
