The Cardinals picked up their first win of the season, scoring single goals in each half en route to a 2-1 win over Carleton in the teams' MIAC meeeting a year ago. … The Cardinals scored in the game’s first minute, and led 2-1 at halftime, but Hamline scored twice in the game’s final 45 minutes in handing SMU a 3-2 setback in the teams’ MIAC opener Wednesday. … Carleton, meanwhile, dropped its conference opener, falling to defending MIAC champion Gustavus 2-0 on Wednesday.
