After playing four years here at Saint Mary’s, I have learned that your love and passion for the game has to come first. After that, everything else will follow naturally as it will guide you through the typical ups and downs of any season. It is well known how fast time passes, but it was an enjoyable journey to say the least.

First and foremost, I would like to thank my parents. I have nothing but the utmost respect and love for each of you. The same goes for my three older brothers, who have each guided me through life in many different ways. Also, I have to thank my Aunt Jan and Uncle John, who have occasionally made it down for games when possible. This is a good time to thank you both for everything you have done and supported me through.

It seems like yesterday that I was recruited to play here by Coach (at the time) Brad Hauter. Despite never being coached by him, I feel I owe him a necessary “thank you” for helping to ease a decision in coming here, as it has led to a great experience. However, Eric Luzzi was my coach throughout my college career and I appreciate everything he has done. Coach, your work stems far beyond the soccer field, which great success will soon continue to display. I enjoyed the fact that every decision had a reason behind it and it was well thought out. I predict that the title “Coach of the Year” will arrive before long, and more than deservedly so.

To Benny and Neil: Benny, thanks for all you have put into the program. It was a great four years, and I am really glad that you continued to be a part of all of them. Neil, I felt you were a great addition to this coaching staff and I hope you decide to stick around.

Bobby, you and Jake have each become brothers to me. I’m sorry our record did not do justice to how great a goalkeeper you are. I wish there was a highlight reel for all the great saves you have made in practices and games, because it would be amazing to watch. It was a blast to watch you play for four years. Brent, many good times we’ve had and many good times to come. Thanks for coming back to play this year. I thought you had a great year. Reddish, you are living proof that one should not be judged based on first impressions. Lardner and I were shocked when we actually got to know you, hilarious. Bobo, congrats, you’ve inherited the back seat on the bus and it’s even in writing. Kunick, I can’t thank you enough for the passion you bring to the game. You are a natural leader and leave everything out there every minute you play. Kozar, you’re one of those personalities that made the season so enjoyable, also hilarious. Matyas, I am sorry you had to endure such a very unfortunate injury. I was looking forward to my last year with you, but make the most of your return. I know you will.

Guys, I could go on all day with individual notes, but the point is that I appreciate everything. It was a great year, regardless of the record. There are a lot of great personalities on this team, which made this season one to remember. I wish you all the best in future years; the potential is definitely there to have some great winning seasons. Make the most of it!
