In its second year of hockey, Saint Mary's won 11 games, tied once and lost two. Squad was stronger than the previous year, but because of poor ice was forced to play the entire season with only about 15 practice sessions. Prior to the Evelath games the team had not been on ice for two weeks. Most of men on squad are from Iron Range country of Minnesota and Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Considered by many experts, and especially by managers and player of professional teams, as one of the best college and amateur teams in the Northwest. Professional teams in the section recruit many of their ploayers from the same sources that provide the amateur talent, and as a consequence they are a bit prejudiced in favor of the amateur style of play. Saint Mary's has been unable to play Big Ten teams because the school has no freshman ruling, but it is planned to institute complete freshmen rule and thus broaden the field of competition. Under present conditions games have been mostly with non-collegiate amateur teams. All of squad expected to return. Planning trip to East Coast this winter and will endeavor to schedule strongest teams available in university and college circles.
