Saint Mary's completed its first year of intercollegiate hockey with a remarkable record of 11 victories, 2 defeats and 1 tie in 14 games. Included in the honors won were the championship of the state college conference and
runner-up in the Midwest tournament at Wausau, Wis. Saint Mary's accumulated a total of 50 goals to opponents' 13. Although beaten twice, they have never failed to score at least once in a game. One defeat was at the hands of the Waterloo professional club by a 3-1 score in the first game of the season, with only two days' practice. The other was by Eveleth Junior College in the Midwest tournament. The defense of Saint Mary's was probably the oustanding feature of their play. In almost every game, opposition goalies had almost twice as many stops to make because the puck was taken away from the opposing offense before they got close to the net. The only regret is the fact that Saint Mary's was unable to play any of the Big Ten teams because of the freshman ruling. Big Ten colleges cannot play teams in regular games which play freshmen or have the freshman ruling.
