The Cardinals got goals from A.J. Woodward (Lenexa, Kan.) and Adam Gill (Rochester, Minn.), and entered the third period with a 2-1 lead, but the Oles found the back of the net twice in the game’s final 20 minutes in handing SMU a 3-2 setback in Northfield, Minn.

Friday’s loss marked the third straight time that SMU and St. Olaf have played to a 3-2 decision. … Adam Gill (Rochester, Minn.) netted his team-leading 12th goal of the season vs. the Oles. Gill is currently second in points with 21, three behind team-leader Anthony Bohn (Spring Hill, Fla.) . … Bohn and Gill are two of seven SMU players with at least 10 points this season. … SMU’s loss to St. Olaf Friday was its second straight. … The Cardinals have not scored more than two goals in any of their last seven losses — and have only eclipsed the two-goal mark three times in their 12 losses this season. … With Friday’s loss, the Cardinals fell five points behind St. Thomas and Augsburg for the fifth and final MIAC playoff spot. … The Cardinals have outscored their opponents 20-19 in the first period — including 1-0 Friday night — but they have been outscored 28-18 in the second period and 27-22 in the third.
