St. Norbert scored four goals in both the second and third periods and never looked back in rolling to an 11-3 nonconference win over the Cardinals in the teams' nonconference meeting a year ago. … The Cardinals picked up their first win of the season Friday night, converting on four of their 45 shots on goal en route to a 4-2 nonconference win over Lake Forest. … St. Norbert, meanwhile, extended its season-opening unbeaten streak to six with a 7-1 rout of St. Thomas Friday.

The Cardinals have dropped their last five meetings vs. St. Norbert. but still own a 13-7-0 advantage in the team’s all-time series. … Friday’s game marked the first time this season that the Cardinals have scored the game’s first goal. … David Gross (Grasston, Minn.) netted his team-leading fourth goal of the season, and has now scored at least one goal in all three SMU games. … Adam Gill (Rochester, Minn.) scored SMU’s final goal vs. the Foresters and assisted on another, pushing his team-leading point total to six. Gill has also recorded at least one point in all three SMU games. … SMU’s 45 shots on goal Friday were a season high, while the Cardinals held the Foresters to a season-low two goals and 23 shots on goal.

St. Norbert is 52-6-3 all-time vs. the MIAC since coach Tom Coghlin took over the team in 1993. Two of those six losses have come vs. Saint Mary’s. … St. Norbert, currently No. 2 in the latest USCHO.com poll, has been ranked for 90 consecutive weeks and has been ranked in the top four for 84 of the last 85 weeks. …  The Green Knights are 233-0-6 when leading after two periods — a streak that stretches over 11 years and dates back to a 5-4 overtime loss at UW-Eau Claire on Jan. 21, 1995. … St. Norbert goalie Kyle Jones registered his 13th career shutout with his 15-save effort against Augsburg last weekend. Jones is now one shutout behind former Saint John’s goalie Adam Hanna for the all-time NCAA Division III career shutouts lead. … Jones’ goal allowed at 19:38 of the second period vs. Saint John’s snapped a consecutive shutout streak of 153:57. That mark is 10th-best all-time in Division III, and the Green Knights’ junior now owns the first (337:22), third (201:19) and 10th (153:37) best shutout streaks.
