WINONA, Minn. — Saint Mary's University goalie Ryne Ess (Eden Prairie, Minn.), who stopped 66 of the 70 shots he faced and boasted a .943 save percentage in SMU's two games last weekend, was named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week, it was announced Monday.

The senior goalkeeper, who has started every game for the Cardinals this season, kicked out 39 shots in the Cardinals' 3-2 loss to UW-Superior last Friday, then stopped 27 of the 28 shots he faced in SMU's 5-1 win vs. St. Scholastica on Saturday.
For the season, Ess has compiled a 3.20 GAA and a .915 save percentage in the Cardinals' six games.
