WINONA, Minn. — Saint Mary's University goalie Ryne Ess (Eden Prairie, Minn.) was named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Hockey Player of the Week, it was announced Monday.

Ess stopped 73 of the 77 shots he faced in helping the Cardinals take three out of a possible four points in their weekend series against Gustavus.
Ess finished with 32 saves in Friday's 3-3 tie at Gustavus, then followed that up with a 41-save effort in Saturday's 4-1 SMU win.
For the season, Ess boasts a 2.49 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage.
