Cardinals' Phillips, Schumacher
are named First-Team All-MIAC

WINONA, Minn. — Saint Mary's University juniors Al Schumacher (Oakdale, Minn.) and Sam Phillips (Red Wing, Minn.) were named to the All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's hockey team, it was announced Wednesday.

Schumacher appeared in all 16 MIAC games for the Cardinals, who finished with a 5-11-0 conference mark. A three-year letterwinner and the team's captain, scored a team-leading seven goals and added four assists for 11 points. Overall, Schumacher tallied 18 goals and added seven assists for a team-leading 25 points in 25 games.

The all-conference selection was the second straight for Phillips, who dished out 10 assists in 16 conference games. A three-year letterwinner at defense, Phillips played in all 25 games this season, finished with four goals and 13 assists for 17 points.

Fellow junior Jason Fillipp (Fox River Grove, Ill.) earned all-conference honorable-mention honors.
