Carleton's big second half does in Cardinals 69-58

NORTHFIELD, Minn.— Steve Nuessle scored 17 points and pulled down nine rebounds while Scott Christensen had 17 points and five assists to lead Carleton to a 69-58 victory over the Saint Mary's University men's basketball team Saturday evening.

Carleton (8-14 overall, 6-12 MIAC), which snapped a three-game losing streak with the win, erupted for 41 second-half points, shooting 48 percent from the field, erasing a one-point SMU lead and handing the Cardinals their fifth loss in the last six games.

The Cardinals jumped out to an early lead in the first half, leading by 14 at the 8:40 mark, 24-10, before the Knights went on an 18-5 run to narrow the lead to one at halftime.

Jason Boll (Sauk Prairie, Wis.) scored a game-high 20 points, while Jeff Tendall (Leclair, Iowa) added 13 points in the losing effort for the Cardinals.
