The Cardinals put an end to their season-high five-game losing streak, building a 42-29 halftime lead, then scoring the game’s final seven points en route to a 79-67 win over Concordia in Moorhead, Minn., Wednesday. … St. Thomas, meanwhile, suffered its first MIAC loss of the season, as Saint John's used a game-closing 6-0 run over the final 1:45 to secure a 64-59 win over the No. 3-ranked Tommies.

Last Meeting
The Tommies dominated from start to finish, shooting 60 percent from the field, including 9-for-19 from behind the 3-point line en route to the lopsided 87-43 win in St. Paul, Minn. … The Cardinals gave up a season-high 98 points a year ago in falling to St. Thomas 98-62 on Jan. 14, and the Tommies completed the MIAC sweep with a 74-68 win on Feb. 11.

Wednesday’s win snapped the Cardinals’ five-game losing streak — their longest slide since closing out the 2005-06 season with seven straight losses. … Brensley Haywood (Joliet, Ill.) netted a season-high 20 points vs. the Cobbers, marking the fourth time this season SMU has had a player score 20 or more points. … The Cardinals scored a season-best 42 first-half points vs. Concordia, and their 79 points vs. the Cobbers was SMU’s third-highest offensive output of the season. … Seven different Cardinal players made at least one 3-pointer — and Haywood netted four — as SMU tossed in a season-high 13 3-pointers vs. Concordia. … Haywood is the only player on the Cardinal roster to start all 14 games this season. Haywood has now started 41 straight games, dating back to Feb. 12, 2005. … The Cardinals improved to 2-5 on the road with Wednesday’s win — their first in Moorhead, Minn., since Feb. 15, 1999, when SMU completed a season sweep with a 57-54 win over the Cobbers. The Cardinals, who snapped a 15-game road losing streak with their 89-87 win at Hamline on Dec. 6, 2006, have won just three times on the road in their last 27 games. …Monday's loss to Bethel was just the second time in the last 10 games that Dan Cormier (Blaine, Minn.) or Haywood did not lead the Cardinals in scoring.
