The OIes swept the season series vs. Saint Mary's a year ago, winning 58-57 on a last-second basket by Jon Bain on Jan. 18, 2006, then closed out the regular-season with a 70-52 win over SMU — despite a 21-point effort from the Cardinals' Michael Batterman (Fond du Lac, Wis.). … The Cardinals closed out their nonconference schedule in impressive fashion, getting a team-high 23 points from Dan Cormier (Blaine, Minn.) in rolling to a 76-61 win over Nebraska Wesleyan on Dec. 28. … St. Olaf, meanwhile, has been off since Dec. 30, when the Oles did SMU four better in routing visiting Nebraska Wesleyan by 19, 82-63.

SMU’s win over the Prairie Wolves was the Cardinals’ third in their last four games. … Dan Cormier’s (Blaine, Minn.) 23-point effort vs. NWU marked the third time in December the SMU junior netted 20 or more points and was just two points shy of his career high. … Cormier’s effort vs. the Prairie Wolves’ also included season highs for field goals made (11) and field goal percentage (.846 / 11-for-13). … Cormier is the only player to score more than 20 points in a game this season. … Cormier now leads the team with a 15.1 ppg average.
