The Gusties dominated SMU in the teams' MIAC meetings a year ago, winning by 36, 78-42 on the Cardinals home floor on Jan. 4, then extended their home winning streak vs. SMU to 23 straight with a 40-point, 82-42 win on Feb. 4. … The Cardinals got a game-high 17 points from Dan Cormier, but it was not enough as St. Olaf outscored SMU 37-23 in the second half en route to a 67-54 win on Wednesday. … The Gusties, meanwhile, are coming off a heartbreaking two-point, 87-85 loss to Bethany Lutheran on Tuesday.

Dan Cormier’s (Blaine, Minn.) 17 points vs. St. Olaf marked the fourth time in the last five games that the SMU junior has led the team in scoring. … Cormier leads the team in scoring, averaging 15.4 ppg, while Brensley Haywood (Joliet, Ill.) , who dished out a season-high eight assists vs. the Oles, is also averaging in double figures (13.1 ppg). … Haywood also notched a season-best four steals vs. the Oles. … Haywood leads the team with 34 assists, including 15 in the team’s last two games combined, and boasts a team-best 12 steals. … The Cardinals’ 54 points scored vs. St. Olaf mark just the third time this season SMU has failed to score at leas 65 points and the fewest points since netting 43 in an 87-43 loss to St. Thomas on Nov. 29, 2006. … Wednesday’s 31-30 halftime advantage vs. St. Olaf marked just the third time this season that SMU has led at the half.
