After winning back-to-back games vs. Concordia and UW-La Crosse before the Christmas break, the Knights have now lost three straight.. … Three of Carleton's four MIAC losses this season have been by a combined nine points, while overall, six of the Knights' eight losses have been by 22 points, or an average of less than four points. … Carleton lost its first game this season when holding an opponent under 70 points when they lost to St. Thomas. The Knights are 58-13 in the last five seasons when holding their opponent under 70 points. Of the 13 losses, six of them have come from the hands of the St. Thomas. … Of Carleton's eight losses, four have been to NCAA Division II foes, including a three-point loss at sixth-ranked Minnesota State. … Carleton's Dec. 11 win at Concordia-Moorhead was the 250th MIAC win for head coach Guy Kalland. He owns a .560 MIAC winning percentage as the Knights head coach and has led them to the MIAC Playoffs 13 times in the last 17 seasons.

The Cardinals enter tonight's game on the heels of a 77-70 loss to Gustavus on Saturday. Brenlsey Haywood (Joliet, Ill.) netted a team-high 16 points to lead three players in double figures, but GAC used a 6-2 run to end the game to ice the win. … Carleton, meanwhile, got Jake Phillips scored 20 points and Tommy Drake added 14 points, but the Knights shot 29 percent in the second half in falling at Hamline, 75-70, Monday.

Dan Cormier’s (Blaine, Minn.) 17 points vs. St. Olaf last Wednesday marked the fourth time in the last six games that the SMU junior has led the team in scoring. … Cormier leads the team in scoring, averaging 15.0 ppg, while Brensley Haywood (Joliet, Ill.), who dished out a season-high eight assists vs. the Oles, is also averaging in double figures (13.4 ppg). … Haywood also notched a season-best four steals vs. the Oles. … Haywood leads the team with 40 assists, including 21 in the team’s last three games combined, and boasts a team-best 13 steals. … The Cardinals’ 54 points scored vs. St. Olaf mark just the third time this season SMU has failed to score at least 65 points and the fewest points since netting 43 in an 87-43 loss to St. Thomas on Nov. 29, 2006. … Saturday's loss vs. GAC marked the second time SMU has scored 70 or more points in a losing effort. … The Cardinals led at halftime in both games last week (31-30 vs. St., Olaf and 39-36 vs. GAC), but lost both games and fell to 2-2 in games in which they have led at the break. … After opening the season on the road for five of their first seven games, Saturday’s game vs. Gustavus was the Cardinals’ third straight home game. SMU is 2-3 on its home floor.
