Bethel and SMU split their MIAC series last season, with both teams winning on their home floor. The Cardinals got 20 points from Michael Rohr (Bloomingdale, Ill.) in a 71-68 win on Jan. 2, while the Royals edged SMU 82-79, despite a 26-point effort from the Cardinals' Brensley Haywood (Joliet, Ill.). … The Cardinals’ second-half struggles continued Saturday, as SMU failed to hold a one-point halftime lead, falling to Augsburg 83-73 at the SMU Gym. … Bethel, meanwhile, got a game-high 21 points from Tim Madson including 15 in the second half to lead the Royals to their second straight win, an 87-73 win over Macalester on Saturday.

The Cardinals' loss to Augsburg extended their losing streak to four it's SMU's second four-game slide of the season. … Brensley Haywood (Joliet, Ill.) netted a team-high 18 points vs. Augsburg Saturday it was the third straight time the SMU senior has led the team in scoring vs. the Auggies. … Eric Lear (Antioch, Ill.) and Michael Batterman (Fond du Lac, Wis.) each scored eight points vs. Carleton last Wednesday, marking just the second time in SMU’s 11 games that the Cardinals failed to have a double-figure scorer. … Wednesday’s loss at Carleton dropped SMU to 1-5 on the road this year.
