WINONA, Minn. — When Brenlsey Haywood (Joliet, Ill.) took the court on Feb. 17 against Concordia, the Saint Mary's University senior was making his 51st — and last — straight start for the Cardinal men's basketball team.

Thursday, Haywood started a new streak — two straight.

For the second consecutive season, Haywood was an honorable-mention All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference selection.

Haywood averaged a team-best 13.6 points-per-game in helping lead the Cardinals to a 7-13 MIAC mark. The SMU senior led the team in scoring in eight of their 20 conference games, including a season- and career-best 31-point effort in SMU's 80-68 win over Augsburg on Feb. 10. Haywood also closed out his senior season leading the team in assists (70) and steals (24).

Mikey Sweeney (St. Paul, Minn.), meanwhile, was the Cardinals' selection to the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team. As part of a conference-wide sportsmanship initiative, members of the All-MIAC Sportsmanship team are selected by their coaches and teammates as individuals who demonstrate ideals of positive sportsmanship both on and off the field of competition.
