The Cardinals and Pipers split their two MIAC games a year ago, with SMU posting an 83-72 win on the Pipers' home floor, while Hamline was a 79-61 victory on the Cardinals' home floor. … The Cardinals gave coach Mike Trewick his first coaching victory over his former team Saturday, as Michael Rohr (Broadview, Illl.) scored a game-high 17 points and SMU outscored Saint John’s 46-27 in the second half en route to a 69-56 win. … Hamline picked up its third straight win as freshman Tony Thrasher scored 26 points including six 3-pointers to lead the Pipers to an 83-71 win over Augsburg Saturday.

Saturday’s win over the Johnnies was SMU's sixth, surpassing the Cardinals' win total of a year ago. … Michael Rohr (Broadview, Ill.) and Michael Batterman (Fond du Lac, Wis.) gave SMU a double-double of double-doubles vs. the Johnnies, as Rohr netted 17 points and added 11 rebounds, while Batterman scored 10 points and added 10 rebounds. … It was Rohr's first double-double of the season. … John Gencius (Chicago, Ill.) tallied a season-high 13 points vs. the Johnnies. … Rohr, who scored a season-high 20 points in the Cardinals' win over Bethel last Monday, led the team in scoring last week, averaging 14.0 ppg. … SMU’s loss to Gustavus last Wednesday snapped its two-game winning streak and marked the first time in four games that the Cardinals lost on their home floor.
