Wednesday, they were the Cardinals' post-season leaders, as well, as the SMU duo were honorable-mention All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference selections.
Smith and Haywood averaged 11.7 and 11.6 points-per-game, respectively, in leading the Cardinals to a 7-13 conference finish. Haywood, who started all 20 MIAC games, led the team in scoring seven times during their conference run — including 20 or more points on four separate occasions.
Smith, meanwhile, was SMU's No. 1 man off the bench, scoring in double figures in 15 of the Cardinals' 20 MIAC games, including a season-best 19 points vs. St. Thomas on Feb. 11.
The Cardinal duo were also the team's overall scoring leaders, averaging 12.0 ppg and 11.3 pgg, respectively in helping SMU to a 9-16 overall mark — the Cardinals' most wins since they went 11-13 during the 1999-2000 season.
