The past four years have gone so quickly, its hard to believe my college experience will soon come to an end. I remember when I came in as a freshman, I thought the day would never come when I would end my basketball career. Society tends to measure success based on a winning record, but the most successful part of my basketball career hasnt been the number of wins, but the close relationships I formed while playing. The blood and sweat of the team went into advance fitness, open gyms, lifting, and everything else done together, which has tended to make us appreciate one another, like having our own brothers.
Id first and foremost like to thank my parents for their continual support in everything I do. Their support has always been there and they have been a strong influence on my life. I am the man I am today because of their love and support. I pray for nothing more than to have my children one day look to me as I do to my parents because its hard to describe in words how much they mean to me. I can only give them gratitude for the wonderful, loving people they are. Thank you! I also want to thank my girlfriend, Amy, whose affection and support over the past two years has helped make me a better person.
I thank all the coaches through the past four years for allowing me to participate in a collegiate program. I appreciate the time you devoted to the team, and I wish you only the best in upcoming seasons. As a credit to coach Bob Biebel, I have had the opportunity to forge some great friendships through the men recruited to play on the team. Adam, I couldnt have asked for a better roommate for four years, and weve had many strong memories. Ive appreciated your advice and encouragement, and I think of you like a brother. Nick, after this year, life will be so different because weve done everything together from taking the same class schedule to the long conversations about life. Adam and Nick, you have always been there for me, and I view you as life-long friends, friends who will one day be in my wedding. I hope there are many more memories in the future for us. Lance, I know youll be an awesome coach based on your passion for the game. I wish you good luck in coaching and teaching. Jim and Dan, I wish I could have had more than one year at Saint Marys with you guys. You remind me of Adam and myself enough said. Have fun, and make the most of your time here. Drago, even though you arent playing on the team, youve been a good friend.
As far as the rest of the guys, I wish you nothing but the best. There is a world of talent on the team, and hopefully when you all are writing your senior salute you can say your team brought home the conference title. I apologize for the lack of leadership displayed at times this season. I hope you guys turn things around the next couple of years and have successful careers.
The four years here have been quite an experience, an experience that consisted of memories that I will never let go of. The time we have all spent together in basketball and outside the sport has been memorable through all the good and the bad. All I can do is look back and smile.
