Cardinals' Jim Wangler named to MIAC's All-First Year Team

WINONA, Minn. — Saint Mary's University's Jim Wangler (Wheaton, Ill.) was named to the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Basketball All-First Year Team, it was announced Thursday.

Wangler appeared in 19 of the Cardinals' 20 conference game, averaging 13.2 points-per-game and 3.6 rebounds-per-game. Wangler's 13.2 ppg average was tops among the five players named to the MIAC's All-First Year Team.

The freshman guard scored in double figures in 15 of the 19 league games he played, scoring 20 or more points on four separate occasions — including a career-high 27 points in a 71-64 loss to Augsburg.

SMU finished the season 2-18 in conference play and 2-23 overall.
