Cardinals struggle in third round, settle for 14th at T.C. Classic

ELK RIVER, Minn. – For two days at the Twin Cities Classic, the Saint Mary's University men's golf team played as good they had all season.

Problem was, the Twin Cities Classic was three days long.

After putting together solid rounds of 312 and 317, the Cardinals ballooned to a 334 third-day total and settled for a 14th-place finish in the 17-team season-ending tournament.

Jesse Polk (Hastings, Minn.) led the way for the Cardinals, putting together three rounds in the 70s — 74-78-79—231 — to finish in a tie for 26th place. Justin Magill (Lake Elmo, Minn.) added a 79-83-8—244, while Scott Savage (Mahtomedi, Minn. / 82-80-88—250), Bill Ryan (Western Springs, Ill. / 79-88-85—252) and Josh Wendell (Rosemount, Minn. / 80-76-99—255) rounded out the SMU lineup.
