Glorvigen's medalist honors lead Tommies to third straight MIAC title

St. Thomas wins 3rd team title
12 earn All-MAIC honors
WINONA, Minn. — The University of St. Thomas women's golf team completed the trifecta in convincing fashion Sunday afternoon, as the Tommies captured their third straight Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title.

Led by meet medalist Katie Glorvigen, the Tommies cruised to a 665 team total, 35 strokes better than runner-up St. Benedict's 390. Glorvigen carded a tournament-low four-over-par 77 on Sunday to earn medalist honors with a 162. Teammate Tricia Nelson and Concordia's Katie Taylor — who won the only other golfer to card a round in the 70s with a second-day 79 — shared the No. 2 spot with 163 totals.

Saint Mary's Andrea Hanke and St. Thomas' Maureen Hardwick were five shots off Glorvigen's pace with 167s to share the fourth spot.

The Tommies jumped out to an 11-stroke lead after the first day, shooting a 340. UST pulled away from the field on Day 2, shooting a 325 that bettered any other team's score by 12 strokes en route to the win.
