Hanke picks up where she left off with 5th-place effort at Carleton Invite
NORTHFIELD, Minn. The Saint Mary's University women's golf team kicked off its two-meet spring season with a seventh-place finish at the Carleton Invitational Friday and Saturday.
Andrea Hanke (Janesville, Wis.) an All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference selection after placing fourth at the season-ending MIAC Championships picked up where she left off last fall, rebounding from a disappointing opening-round 92 to shoot an eight-over 80 for a two-day total of 172.
Hanke's performance was not only the Cardinals' best, but it was also the fifth-best performance in the 44-person field. Marisa Navarro of Augsburg earned medalist honors with an 81-82163.
Caty Beel (Tucson, Ariz.) chipped in a 93-106199, while Katie Omdahl (Algona, Iowa / 104-108212) and Kristi Pugal (Brookfield, Wis. / 105-113218) rounded out the Cardinals' top four.
