14 Cardinals earn Fall MIAC Academic All-Conference

WINONA, Minn. — Six Saint Mary's University volleyball players led the list of 14 Cardinal athletes named to the 2005 Fall Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Academic Team, it was announced Friday.

The MIAC recognized 293 student-athletes who represented the conference’s 13 institutions. Student-athletes must be a sophomore, junior, or senior with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale to qualify for MIAC Academic All-Conference recognition. Athletically, student-athletes in football, soccer, and volleyball must compete in 50 percent of their team’s varsity regular season contests. Golfers must be a member of the competing team at the conference tournament and cross country runners must finish in the top 35 of the conference championship or compete at regionals.

Named to the All-Academic team from SMU were: Amy Benz (Oshkosh, Wis.), Molli Dant (Forest City, Iowa), Desiree Larson (Blaine, Minn.), Kaylene Mrozinski (North St. Paul, Minn.), Jessica Voight (Caledonia, Minn.) and Beth Schubert (Naperville, Ill.) from volleyball; Tera Bollig (Cambridge, Minn.), Kim Koecheler (St. Paul, Minn.) and Ellen Koranda (Blue Earth, Minn.) from cross country; Jennifer Johnson (Racine, Wis.) and Lisa Tlougan (Rochester, Minn.) from women's soccer; Joe Manley (Racine, Wis.) from men's soccer and Kyle Roark (Waterloo, Iowa) from men's golf.
