Mathison is yet to give up an earned run in conference play in 38.1 career innings. … The Oles’ 14-1 start is their best since the 2000 squad started with the same mark. The Cardinals struggled to come up with any clutch hits in dropping both ends of an MIAC doubleheader to Saint John's Monday. SMU managed just 12 hits and seven runs in falling to the Johnnies, 5-3 and 7-4. … Todd Mathison threw a three-hit shutout and Carson Jones was 3-for-4 with two RBIs to lead St. Olaf to a 3-0 win over Macalester in the first half of an MIAC-opening doubleheader Monday. The Oles completed the sweep with an 8-1 win.
