Trip to Tampa, Fla., has its ups and downs for coach, Cardinals
For the next three days, I will be sharing with you the events of our time together as we prepare for the MIAC season. As we departed campus early this morning, the players were looking forward with great expectation to their time together. For a few players, this was their first time flying and the anticipation and nervousness were evident. Despite a little turbulence, our first timers handled things nicely. After loading the vans, we traveled the short distance with no bridges (much to my relief) to our “five-star” hotel and quickly piled into our rooms settling in for a great night of March Madness on TV. The players were thrilled to learn of the entertainment and eating options within waking distance of the hotel. Of which one is STRICTLY OFF-LIMITS! We hit the field at 9:00 a.m. (Friday) morning with first pitch coming at 11:00 a.m. vs the Bullets of Gettysburg College. Gettysburg comes into the game tomorrow w/a record of 10-1. I’m confident that the 2007 Cardinal will be up for the challenge. Mike Mitchell will get the game one start as he has been outstanding in our first two contests in the Dome. We are crossing our fingers, as rain is in the forecast for Friday (Kelsey, Shane and Mac double cross your fingers) as we really want to play tomorrow! |
