Game Notes

The Cardinals' 2-0 win over Macalester last Wednesday marked SMU's first shutout win since a 4-0, season-opening victory over Penn State-Altoona on April 11, 2004. … The 2-0 win was also SMU's first shutout vs. an MIAC opponent since a 7-0 blanking of Carleton on April 26, 2003. … David Reiter (Elgin, Minn.) tossed a complete-game three-hitter in beating the Scots — it was the SMU senior's first-ever complete game and first-ever shutout. … Dan Cosgrove (South St. Paul, Minn.) had his string of eight straight at-bats with a hit snapped with a second-inning ground out in Game 2 vs. Macalester last Wednesday. … Cosgrove leads the Cardinals in virtually every offensive category — including batting average (.345), hits (30), triples (2), RBIs (18), total bases (42), slugging percentage (.483), and walks (14), … Saturday's Game 2 loss to GAC marked the second time this season SMU has scored 11 runs — and lost. … The Cardinals' 17 runs allowed and four home runs in Game 2 vs. Gustavus were both season highs. … SMU fell to 1-13 when scoring two or fewer runs with Saturday's Game 1 loss to GAC. … The Cardinals are 0-5 in one-run games and 0-2 when scoring 10 or more runs. … SMU has been outscored 47-17 in the first two innings combined. … SMU has outscored its opponents 21-10 in the seventh inning, but are still just 2-21 when trailing after six innings.
