WINONA, Minn. -— On Thursday afternoon, Saint Mary's University senior Matt Rink (Rochester, Minn.) found himself batting a perfect 2-for-2.

Along with landing a spot on the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V Team, the Cardinals' outfielder was named to the All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference First Team.

Rink — who helped lead the Cardinals to an 8-12 conference record and was the lone Cardinal named to the 27-player team — started all 20 conference games for SMU in earning his first-ever All-MIAC selection. Rink led the team in batting average (.339), hits (21), triples (3), total bases (34) and slugging percentage (.548).

A four-year letterwinner for SMU, Rink closed out his senior season as the Cardinals' offensive leader in virtually every offensive category, including batting average (.363), hits (37), triples (4), RBIs (29) and slugging percentage (.588). Boasting career highs in hits, triples and RBIs, Rink helped guide the Cardinals to a 16-15 overall record. A mathematics and accounting double-major, Rink also shared the team lead in multiple-hit and multiple-RBI games with 11 and eight, respectively.
