As I look back on my four years of college, I reflect on my experiences. I had always thought of what I wanted to express in my “Senior Salute.” I considered writing those ideas down and now I wish I would have. Just as many other things I have done throughout my experience in college, my thoughts on what I wanted to write about have changed. However, one thing has been constant: Baseball.

Baseball has been the roots of my experience at Saint Mary’s. From the day I chose to attend this university, it was ultimately the idea of playing college baseball that created my enthusiasm to attend school.

That enthusiasm has remained strong due to numerous outside influences. The first unofficial practice in the fall of my freshman year opened my eyes to a great group of seniors who were extremely willing to introduce us (freshman) to the program. My professors provided homework and exams that made baseball seem like an easy and unbelievably enjoyable reward. Our coaches were always successfully teaching us the game of baseball and the ways in which we can relate the game to triumph within our lives outside of baseball. Friends, (especially fellow seniors which much of my first three years was spent and a lesser amount this last year due to a newly acquired unmatched friend) have been excellent motivators and also padding for the things that don’t always go as planned.

Most importantly, I would like to thank my providers. Mom and Dad, a thank you just doesn’t do you justice. Mom, you inspire me, support me, and provide unsurpassed amounts of love. Dad, you have always shared your knowledge of baseball, listened to my complaints, and done everything in your power to ensure my success. Grandma and grandpa, you are like my “other” parents. Your gifts of food, money, clothes, knowledge, and love are always so beneficial.

I am so grateful for everything I have encountered over the last four years. Thank you family, friends, coaches, and professors. It is an experience that has cultivated me and it will never be forgotten.
